Additional information about this model redesigned for 2014, the jeep compass is a compact crossover suv available in fwd or 4wd. The compass is available with two different engines; a standard 2. 0-liter 4-cylinder engine that produces 158 hp/141 lb-ft of torque and an optional 2. 4-liter 4-cylinder that produces 172 hp and 165 lb-ft of torque. Transmission options consist of a 5-speed manual, new 6-speed powertech automatic, and a cvt automatic. Fuel mileage falls within an epa estimated range of 21 mpg city to 30 mpg highway, depending on engine selection. Options include 18-inch wheels, heated seats, leather trim, touchscreen navigation with dvd, liftgate speakers, premium sound, and fold-flat seating. Safety is comprised of advanced airbags, electronic stability control (esc), electronic roll mitigation, anti-lock braking (abs), emergency braking assist (ba), traction control (tcs), electronic brake force distribution (ebd), and tire pressure monitoring (tpms). The compass is backed by a 3-year/36,000-mile warranty. The jeep compass receives minor updates for 2014. Chief among them is a switch from the continuously variable transmission (cvt) of years past to a new 6-speed automatic with a manual shifting mode. Elsewhere, jeep added a new acoustic-laminate windshield to help cut down on road noise, new bi-halogen projector headlamps to improve nighttime forward visibility, body color side mirrors, and chrome accents on the grille surrounds and fog lamp bezels.
